Langkawi - Great end to our Asian leg

With waterfalls, beaches and nights at the Reggae Bar, Langkawi is definitely the best place we've stayed so far

I have to say, Langkawi is definitely the best place we've stayed so far.

Like Penang we intended to stay for a few days. Those few days turned into a week as we've enjoyed exploring the island so much.

We stayed at a small hostel called Geckos just off the main road in Pantai Cenang. Most of our days were spent wandering down the beach. Ultimately that ended with us having a few drinks at the Reggae Bar that backed onto the beach.

The week wasn't all spent at the beach. Along with the Norwegian couple we had met in Penang, we hired a car to tour the island.

Our first stop was at the Seven Wells waterfall. After a steep climb you arrive at a set of crystal clear water pool. We had great fun sliding down the slippery rocks into the cool water.

Following the road around to the north we ventured to Tanjung Rhu Beach. The beach was really quiet and peaceful. We were able to walk out to a sandbank in the sea as it never got more than knee height.

It was a full day out rounded off with a quick visit to the island's capital Kuah.

Another day trip was out to Pulau Payar Marine Park via speedboat. The water was incredible with us able to see hundreds of fish as well as the odd reef shark.

We're sad to leave Langkawi and Malaysia as we end our Asia leg of the trip. Next stop.. Sydney.
