Asian Sensory Garden at Grosvenor Pulford Hotel
Entering through the sliding doors and into the dimmed Waterfall Lounge was like entering a different world. With pebbled flooring and Moroccan styled metal tables, Spa by Kasia in Chester gave an instant  feeling of peace and relaxation.

As a treat for our first wedding anniversary we had booked a weekend spa escape at the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel and Spa just five miles south of Chester city centre.

Spa by Kasia Couples Treatment

Following a welcome drink of Asian tea we were ushered into our couples VIP treatment room (at no extra cost)

I've never had any spa treatments before and whilst Angie relaxed into her Tri-Enzyme resurfacing facial, I tensed up in preparation for my energizing  back, neck and scalp massage.

Whilst I couldn't see what was going on around me as my only view was of the floor, I had that nervous anticipation of whether the next set of oils was going to be hot or cold.

The massage lasted 45 minutes but it wasn't until around half way in that I began to relax a little. Following treatment on my lower back my masseuse moved onto my neck and shoulders and I felt the stress begin to ease away.

Even though my aches and pains remain I must admit they eased a little after the massage. I guess that's a sign to go for more.

Time slipped by and before we knew it our hour was over and it was time to explore the rest of the spa's facilities.

Enjoying lunch and a brisk walk

Whilst Angie went for a second treatment, an exotic lime and ginger lime salt glow I plunged into the hotels swimming pool.

As part of the package a two course lunch was provided. Duck spring rolls and a mushroom and truffle risotto was washed down with a glass of champagne all the while dressed in our Spa by Kasia slippers and dressing gown. This really was the life!

The afternoon hours were whiled away in the spa steam room, sauna and jacuzzi before it was time to leave the dressing gown and slippers.

We braved the cold weather to step outside into the Asian Sensory Garden, where we took a brisk walk around the two ponds and stunning waterfall feature grabbing ideas for our next garden project.

The Grosvenor Pulford Hotel

The hotel, a former working farm house and adjoining ale house, was our bed for the night and we had a view of the Asian Sensory Garden from our bedroom window. It's cosy Nelsons Bar was buzzing in the evening with a combination of spa goers, local residents and those either celebrating or drowning their sorrows after a day spent at Aintree racecourse.

At £300 for bed and breakfast, use of all the spa's facilities, a two course lunch and a treatment each the weekend was great value and a romantic way to spend our first wedding anniversary.

And with the city of Chester just a short drive away we'd love to go back to the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel and Spa by Kasia for another weekend spa break.
